Near Miss

Yesterday I was sitting on the couch, Judah was laying on the other end of the couch. Asa walked up and grabbed Judah's arm. I told him to be gentle and he let go. Then he grabbed again and pulled. Luckily I stopped him before he pulled Judah off the couch.
This morning Judah was in his car seat and Asa threw his cup right on him. Judah really jumped but he didn't cry for a while.
I'm thinking this is going to be life for a while. Judah nearly getting hurt badly. Hopefully it will be a long time before he really gets hurt!

Asa's New Things

It seems like Asa is such a big kid now that we have a newborn. I guess he is doing some new things. He somehow learned "ring around the rosey." I know he did it with his cousins about six weeks ago. Recently he was spinning around in a circle. I started singing the song and he sat down. Now when he spins, I sing.
Asa is really understanding a lot of what we say. Today I asked him if he wanted to carry Grandma's things to the van for her. He walked over to the door and tried to open it. It's too bad he can't follow directions better or talk clearly. He is getting a lot better with talking. He gets the number of syllables or the consonant sounds right some of the time.
When Judah cries, Asa tries to give him something to make him happy. He usually gets a blanket or the pacifier. He's also offered the occasional toy to Judah. Too bad Judah doesn't play with toys yet.

Dining with Four

I got a Chili's gift card for my birthday which was a few weeks ago. Today around 11:00 James asked if I wanted to go to Chili's tonight for dinner. I suggested that we go for a late lunch so that it wouldn't be too crowded. We put Asa down for a nap around 11:30 and decided to go to lunch when he got up.
He didn't get up until after 3:00. He must have been tired! So we got everything ready and headed out for Chili's. Fortunately the bulk of our excitement came before the meal. We were just inside the door when Judah spit up. The good news is that he was in his car seat. The bad news is that he threw up about half a gallon of milk. James took him out to the van and changed his clothes. Meanwhile Asa and I went to our table. The rest of the meal was pretty normal. Asa ate most of the food we gave him. The other excitement was the waitress that didn't have a clue what was going on. I guess that was nice because we didn't feel the need to give her a big tip!
I think it might be a while before we go out again!

Life with Two

Well, we have survived a week at home. It hasn't been too bad. There have only been a couple times that I felt stretched thin. In the first day and a half at home, we changed nearly 20 diapers, changed the sheet in the cradle twice, had 11 guests, did 2 loads of laundry and had two kids in our room overnight. Asa had diarrhea and a diaper rash. He would scream "no, no, no" when it was time to change his diaper. The best thing is that people brought us food. Praise the Lord for friends!
My oldest sister came on Tuesday with her oldest daughter. They were a great help. I probably could have managed without them, but they certainly helped me stay sane.
Asa likes his baby brother. He is getting pretty good at saying Judah. He sits by me a lot when I'm feeding Judah. It's sweet!
Other exciting things have happened, but I can't remember them right now. Sorry. I guess that goes with having two little ones.

Judah David Light

We gave birth to our second son on July 1 at 7:21 AM. He was 8 pounds, 7 ounces and 21 inches long. He has lots of black hair. Asa really likes Judah. He gives him hugs and kisses and we think he talks about Judah when he wakes up. It's hard to tell exactly what he is saying sometimes.
